thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of artmix, especially since we had to close our doors temporarily due to covid. since march, i have launched our artmix to-go shop with a collection of artmix masterpieces inspired by artists from around the world for toddlers to teens & adults to enjoy creative fun at home. i am updating our artmix to-go class & camp information regularly on this website, on instagram @artmixlearning and in our weekly email. i am preparing the studio for when we are able to re-open, with thorough safety and social distancing guidelines in place. please let me know any questions or concerns you may have, email@example.com. i hope you stay safe and look forward to seeing you soon!
in 1993, my husband and I moved to houston, where we have raised our three wonderful sons. in 2005, i realized my life-long dream of opening an art school for all children, including children with special needs. i have totally loved being able to spend the last 15 years growing artmix with an incredible team of art teachers, students, along with my very supportive family.
with regards to my academic background, in 1989, i earned my undergraduate degree in government and international relations from georgetown university, in washington, d.c.. i earned a master of arts education in 1996, and a master of special education in 1998, from the university of houston. i have worked in the field of art education, specifically teaching children with special needs, since 1994. in 2014, i completed the goldman sachs 10,000 small business program, here in houston.
before opening artmix, i volunteered for seven years with the pediatric patients at m.d. anderson cancer center through the children’s art project. since then, it has been a total joy for our artmix team to get to partner with a variety of organizations that support creativity for houston’s children, including the houston chapter of the sunshine kids, a variety of programs serving children with autism, the bayou bend foundation, as well as schools and parks throughout the houston area.
ryan has worked with us for several summers and holidays. he has worked with children with special needs in several programs, including artmix studio, and as a camp counselor at aspire accessories’ camp aranzazu. ryan graduated from strake jesuit college preparatory in houston, texas in 2019. he is a freshman in the business school at high point university in north carolina, and is earning a bachelor of science degree in international business.
since he returned home from college due to covid, he has been working to fulfill and deliver our artmix to-go kits, and will be helping with our summer 2020 artmix to-go camp!
